ArcRelay Suite user guide

Before you begin

This guide is for people who already have an ArcRelay test build. Features implemented in the integrated app do not mean every standalone product has shipped. Follow the actual controls and platform support in your build; this website does not promise a new installer, price or release date.

• Prepare at least two supported devices on a mutually reachable, trusted network.
• Run ArcRelay on the devices involved. Understand any local-network, input or screen permission before granting it.
• Same-subnet discovery is different from routed connectivity. VPNs, guest-network isolation and firewall rules may affect either.
• Start with one task, such as sending a small file, instead of opening every capability at once.

Step one: discover and verify a device

1. Open the device list and wait for nearby devices to appear.
2. Choose the target, initiate pairing and confirm on the other device.
3. Compare the identity or pairing information shown on both sides. A familiar device name alone is not proof of identity.
4. Grant the capability needed for your task. Pairing and individual feature permissions are managed separately.

You should now see the target's connection state. If it is missing, check that the app is running and the devices can reach each other, then inspect network permissions and relevant firewall rules. Do not disable whole-device protection as a workaround.

Step two: complete one collaboration task

Send a file

1. Choose a connected device, open file transfer and select a small file.
2. On the receiver, accept or reject the request according to the current receive policy.
3. Check progress and completion on both sides, then verify the received file.
4. Cancel to stop. Pause and resume within a running session do not promise resumability across restarts.

Relay the clipboard

1. Confirm clipboard permissions on both sides and review the local sync switches.
2. Copy a harmless text snippet, paste it on the target and check that content and direction are correct.
3. Search or favorite useful items in history. File history stores original paths, not a backup of each source file.
4. Turn off the relevant sync switch or revoke the device's capability when you no longer want it shared.

Share keyboard and mouse

1. Configure relative desktop screen positions and grant required input permissions.
2. Enable input access to the target, then test crossing the configured screen edge.
3. To recover from unexpected control, press Command/Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Escape to release it, or Command/Ctrl + Alt + Shift + M to release and recenter locally.

Phone touchpad control is a separate input entry point: it is not desktop edge-crossing topology and does not stream a video desktop. Linux phone remote-input injection is currently unsupported. See the feature reference for complete differences.

Use Sniptra inside ArcRelay

1. Check that your desktop integration includes Sniptra; bundled integration targets Windows and macOS 12.3+.
2. Open screenshot settings and enable enhanced screenshots. Bundled does not mean enabled by default.
3. Start a capture, select a region, annotate or use local OCR, then copy or save.
4. When a capture enters the system clipboard, ArcRelay's history and sync settings can still process it. Adjust those settings first if you do not want retention or relay.

End sharing safely

Disable capabilities you no longer need; revoke pairing or permissions for devices you no longer trust. Printer sharing requires pairing and a printing grant. Browser file access has its own switches, so pairing does not automatically open every entry point.

Browser file access uses LAN HTTP and supports read-only browsing, previews and downloads, not uploads. Use it only on trusted networks and review each directory's off, public or password-protected setting.
